This manual explains how to remove and replace the cartridge on a VanMoof S3 or X3.
Tools
- Security Torx 8 key – you will receive this from us, together with the return label, when you order a cartridge repair
- Security Torx 30 key – this is included with the bike. We also sell one if you lose it.
Steps
Remove the saddle
To do this, slightly loosen the saddle riser bolt. For this, you'll need the Torx 30 security key that came with the bike. We also sell this key if you lose it. 
Press the charging port closed
Press the rubber cover cap over the charging port closed so that it does not get in the way when removing the cartridge. 
Remove the screws
Remove the 7 screws holding the cartridge and antenna in place (5 for the cartridge and 2 for the antenna). You will need the security torx 8 key for this.
Set the screws aside so you don't mix them up later. 
Remove the antenna cover
Remove the antenna cover, it can sometimes get stuck. It may help to insert your torx 8 key into one of the screw holes to pop the cover out. 
Remove the cartridge
Push the cartridge out of the frame by inserting the back of a pair of pliers into the opening in the saddle. You don't need to use much force, you can then pull the cartridge out by hand.

Please use the enclosed return label to send the cartridge to us for repair.
Insert the new cartridge
Slide the new cartridge into the frame.
When doing this, make sure that the charging port cover is still pressed in and the antenna cover is removed so that the cartridge fits properly.
